KenWealth.com is brought to you by Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad, a subsidiary of K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad. K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad was incorporated on 7 June 1994.

The Group has its beginning in 1973. Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad (formerly known as K & N Kenanga Bhd) was incorporated on 6 September 1973 with an issued and paid up share capital of RM2 million.

Founder

YM Tengku Dato' Paduka Noor Zakiah Bte Tengku Ismail, one of the co-founders, is the Executive Chairman of the K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad Group. In 1979, Encik Abdul Aziz Bin Hashim joined the company, followed by Dato' Ramli Bin Ismail in 1980, both as shareholders and executive Directors.

Subsidiaries

Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad("KIBB") established a number of subsidiaries to expand its scope of activities. Kenanga Nominees (Tempatan) Sdn Bhd was incorporated in December 1973 and Kenanga Nominees (Asing) Sdn Bhd was set up in October 1993. Kenanga Management & Services Sdn Bhd was incorporated in August 1980 and Kenanga Securities Custodian Sdn Bhd in January 1981.

In 1989, John Hancock International Holdings Inc. acquired an interest in the equity of?Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad. Subsequently in 1991, Deutsche Asia Pacific Holdings Pte Ltd became a shareholder of?Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad?by acquiring the said interest in the equity from John Hancock International Holdings Inc.

Investment Banking

Kenanga Investment Bank ("KIBB") was granted a Merchant Banking license by Bank Negara Malaysia on 5th January 2007 and commenced business as an Investment Bank on 30th January 2007?

With the launch of the Kuala Lumpur Options and Financial Futures Exchange Bhd (now known as Malaysian Derivatives Exchange Bhd) in December 1995,?Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad?entered into a joint venture with Bain & Company Ltd (now known as Deutsche Australia Holdings Ltd) of Australia to set up Kenanga DMG Futures Sdn Bhd (now known as Kenanga Deutsche Futures Sdn Bhd).

A restructuring exercise was carried out in 1996 resulting in the formation of a holding company, K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad. The entire issued and paid up share capital of?Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad?was acquired by K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad by the issuance of new shares in the holding company. An important milestone occurred on 8 October 1996 when K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad was listed on the main board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange.

In 1997, Kenanga Asset Management Sdn Bhd ("KAM") received its fund manager's license and has been providing professional investment management services to corporate clients.

Kenanga Investment Management Sdn Bhd ("KIM"), a joint venture Foreign Fund Management Company ("FFMC") which is 60% owned by?Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad?and 40% by Rothschild Asset Management International Holdings BV ("RAM BV"), received its FFMC license in November 1998.

Kenanga Unit Trust Berhad ("KUT") was established in 1999 and is 95% owned by?Kenanga Investment Bank Berhad?and 5% by RAM BV. The principal activity of KUT is to launch a range of unit trust products for the retail public in Malaysia and to cater for different specific investment requirements and objectives of various investor groups. With the establishment of KUT, the Group's fund management capabilities will consist of three companies, KAM, KIM and KUT.

Merger Exercise

K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad has successfully completed the merger exercise involving Sarawak Securities Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Securities Futures Sdn Bhd on 22 August 2001. CMS Capital Sdn Bhd became a major shareholder of K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad holding 25.13%. The acquisition of Peninsula Securities Sdn Bhd was completed on 30 August 2001.

The merged entity, K & N Kenanga Holdings Berhad, now has a total paid-up capital of RM611,759,499.
